OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:
Direct Support or “regular support” volunteers are those who assist in the operation of Refugee Services. Direct volunteers take on tasks that typically require regular interaction with MHO residents. Specific duties range from mentoring new volunteers to assisting residents in planning their bus routes.
Volunteer translators are used at MHO to communicate with residents during the intake process or on an as-needed basis. Occasionally, they will be asked to translate documents.
The volunteer Housing Coordinator is responsible for working with MHO:RS residents towards the end of their stay to help them find appropriate and affordable housing. Specific duties range in nature from assisting residents in their application for the Social Housing Registry to conducting online searches with the resident for prospective housing options.
The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for planning one resident event each month for residents living in the house and occasionally past residents as well. The event is meant to be a fun, community building experience and can involve local cultural activities or events.
Indirect Support volunteers are responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure that the household runs smoothly. Indirect volunteers take on tasks that do not typically require regular interaction with MHO residents. Are you a new volunteer or a volunteer with with limited availability? Then this is the role for you! Specific duties range from house cleaning to assisting with fundraising.
If you have any special skills that you think would help with our organization, do let us know!
